There are two words that people like to use when they describe my writing: wisdom and powerful—there are others, of course, but these are repeated such that I’ve taken notice of them.

I like that those who read my thoughts find them to be these two things. I want to share things that are insightful and helpful; I want my writing to help readers do something. I want to encourage good thinking; I want what I write to have an effect.

So, and since many have judged my words as so, I will share two things that, in my assessment, are imperative for wisdom. Wisdom sounds grand and general, but we all know we can know it when we see it, and we also can see where it isn’t.

Above all, we can judge wisdom when we assess decisions.

Of course, we are here to encourage one another. No matter how well we are doing with decisions, we can always do better. So, in the spirit of this newsletter, we discourse on these things, so that we can get better at them.

Now, the two ingredients.
